Before joining the firm, Mike was a long time employee of the Michigan Credit Union League.  While
there, he was involved in three major rewrites of the Michigan Credit Union Act as well as providing
substantial input in the drafting of CUNA’s Model Credit Union Act.  He also played a significant role in
the drafting of the Michigan Credit Union Rules and Model Bylaws and in the comment process related to
various Federal Reserve and NCUA regulations.

Mike has significant experience with indirect lending relationships; he was employed as an attorney for
four years by Ford Motor Credit Company prior to joining the League.  He has assisted various clients
with the drafting of the contracts governing their relationships with motor vehicle dealers.

He assists clients with the preparation and revision of various forms used in their operations for savings
and lending relationships, focusing on both regulatory compliance and protecting client interests from a
contract perspective.  He also assists clients in negotiating contracts with their various vendors and
suppliers.  In addition, he has assisted clients with numerous issues related to the check clearing and
payment process.

Mike has lectured and written on a wide range of topics including commercial transactions, credit union
account ownership and maintenance, and bankruptcy.
